In 1994 I published a book - NOT THE CONCRETE COWS which was a kaleidoscope across our adolescent New City of Milton Keynes. It was a collection of articles I had written in our local newspaper together with a few bits and pieces I did for national publications.

For many years I have talked about writing a follow up. The talking has now stopped and MILTON DREAMS THE CITY THAT NEVER WAS is now available in both e-book and paperback format. CLICK THEM IMAGE ON THE RIGHT.

Not The Concrete Cows had been out of print for many years. It is now available alongside MILTON DREAMS THE CITY THAT NEVER WAS also in paperback and e-book format. Click the cover on the left.  It is my hope, it is my plan, for these two works to be just two editions in a later trilogy.

1st January 1967, Harold Wilson's government announced an area of land in North Buckinghamshire was to be designated for the building of a new city - The New City Of Milton Keynes. Now 53 years later we have our amazing, slightly aging, Milton Keynes BUT we have never been awarded city status. We are NOT The City of Milton Keynes but The Borough of Milton Keynes.

As I take my readers through this new kaleidoscope I am trying to share the dream that one day we will be given that city charter. I can then complete my trilogy with a third work MILTON KEYNES THE CITY THAT TRULY IS.

The book is a warts and all look at THE GOOD - THE BAD and THE UGLY in our home town. Let's CELEBRATE the good - MEND the bad and REPAINT the ugly to make it beautiful.

In the run up to publication I am playing music for a number of chapters.

You can listen to a selection of iconic music within our amazing New City that would be together with special musical features from different chapters. (see below)

All of this music is brought to you with me wearing my headphones as The Geriatric DJ on Radio CRMK - itself a Milton Keynes Legend and icon.

In my 1993 book NOT THE CONCRETE COWS I explain how I came to live here in 1971 when Milton Keynes was little more than a series ideas on a planner's sheet of paper.

I explain how I hove my new home, how I do not like what some people have done to it and despise what some would do to it.

Now in 2020 nothing has changed but I am seeking to celebrate very loudly the GOOD of Milton Keynes, to then fix the BAD and paint the UGLY so that everything can be proudly celebrated in our city, the dream can be caught and I can write my third book MILTON KEYNES THE CITY THAT TRULY IS.
